This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You will spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days (Chicago, IL)

Sargent & Lundy is one of the largest and most experienced power industry engineering and consulting firms. This position in Sargent & Lundy’s Consulting group will require you to work on our project teams that advises utilities, developers, and investors to make informed decisions and actionable conclusions on Asset Management strategies in Fleet Electrification, Charging Infrastructure Deployment, Power Generation, Electric Transmission & Distribution facilities, and Natural Gas Transmission, Distribution, Solar & Battery Energy Storage facilities. You will work with multi-discipline project teams to provide a variety of services, such as the following:

• Works to assist in developing programs to identify asset risk and risk mitigation strategies with a goal to accomplish risk mitigation.
• Develops multi-year asset management plans incorporating all capital and expense activities for developing the lifecycle activities for the asset classes portfolio investment prioritization process
• Participating in annual and long-term asset management plans development
• Perform risk assessments, gather data, and support quantifying asset class performance
• Understanding and providing knowledge to our customers on regulations and compliance requirements as they apply to the asset portfolios
• Develop analytical models for distributed energy resources such as electric vehicles, battery energy storage and solar.
• Perform due diligence on existing and upcoming DER deployment technologies
• Provides rate case strategy support including testimony preparation

This position requires a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical and/or civil/structural engineering with 3+ years of relative experience. A master’s degree in an engineering discipline or business (e.g., MBA) is a plus.

Although not required, experience working on pipeline integrity risk assessments, power or transmission projects will be considered. Applicants are encouraged to please highlight, as applicable, relevant coursework/experience pertaining to the following:

• Technical report writing.
• Multi-discipline teamwork (i.e., design projects, co-ops)
• Data analysis and visualization.
• Project finance or business acumen.
• Conceptual project design.

• Decision making and judgement.
• Experience in tariffs, rate, or regulatory matters
• Prior experience in the natural gas or electric industry is desirable
