    Provide part time support to the LLNL Superblock facility as a Systems Engineer to perform specialty professional and technical services in facility management, operations, and engineering to support implementation of the safety basis, DOE orders, and the configuration management program within the Superblock. This will involve the development, review, and approval of design changes, technical documents, and procedures as necessary. Specific areas of work may include the following

    • Systems engineering support. This task requires the preparation and/or update of various System Design Descriptions (SDDs) for key facilities and systems. This task also includes facility baseline development for Superblock facilities. Deliverables include SDDs, drawings of critical structures, systems, and components, Master Equipment List, Master Document List updates, identification of critical spare parts, development and preparation of system health reports, etc.
    • Systems engineering, operations support, and programmatic support for the development or upgrades to safety system operations and maintenance procedures (including Task Codes), along with programmatic safety plans. Develop and update procedures in accordance with a formal writer's guide and perform a detailed review, inspection, and evaluation with a facility operator, system engineer, and/or maintenance technician prior to approval. 
    • Provide authorization basis support to include assistance in the implementation and/or update of Technical Safety Requirement surveillance requirements procedures (SRPs). Deliverables include SRPs and associated training plans.
    • Provide engineering analysis and design support for programmatic and facility equipment. This support shall include, but not be limited to failure modes and effects analyses, finite element stress analysis, and design and drafting services.  Equipment analyzed or designed may include experimental apparatus, glove boxes, nuclear material processing systems, ventilation systems, electric distribution and monitoring systems, inert gas systems, and fire suppression systems.  Subtask specific deliverables will be identified at the inception of each subtask by NMTP.  These deliverables include design criteria, plans, procedures, drawings, engineering analyses, operations and maintenance, procedures (including testing, start-up, and post-modification testing), preparation and review of technical specifications, and analytical fieldwork.
    • Support implementation of the NMTP configuration management program by developing procedures and programmatic documents. Deliverables may include a revision to the NMTP Quality Assurance Plan, revision of existing quality assurance procedures, creation of management control procedures, and updates to configuration item sheets.
    • Provide training to systems engineers and operators on the design and operation of the controls for B332 safety class and safety significant ventilation systems.


    Engineering professional with relevant management and consulting experience who generally is recognized as an expert in in his or her area of technical expertise. A Professional Engineering license is preferred.


    • 10 years of experience with an advanced degree.
    • 12 years of experience with a degree.
    • 20 years of experience.
