  • Overview

    Sargent & Lundy's Construction Support Services Division currently has an opportunity for a temporary, full-time Construction Site Manager, to support a Nuclear Power Project in and around Surry, Virginia.


    Primary Responsibility:


    This position will be located in/around Surry, Virginia.  The selected individual will provide overall leadership and management to the construction management functions and interface directly with the Supplier Construction and Engineering Departments, as well as Operations and other supporting, implementing organizations.


    Ongoing/Special Duties:

    • On-site interface with Station Construction Departments.
    • Preparation and review of cost estimate for project's construction activities.
    • Review design changes for constructibility considerations.
    • Construction supervision of new Generator Storage building installation.
    • Develop project specific construction management management work plans.
    • Perform pre-construction planning work prior to field mobilization.
    • Lead and manage the site construction staff.
    • Monitor overall construction progress, cost, quality, scope and safety.
    • Manage and mitigate construction and commissioning work risk.
    • Report variances and cause action to be taken to address negative variances.
    • Report construction progress and cost to Supplier.

    Essential skills and experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline, Construction Management, or related field.
    • Strong, working knowledge of Generator/Exciter/AVR project-related construction and implementation activities.
    • 15 or more years experience in construction management with an emphasis in nuclear power.
    • 10 or more years experience in a supervisory, management, or leadership role.
    • Construction labor knowledge and labor planning experience.
    • Experience in establishing and effectively using project controls tools to manage a construction project.
    • Understanding of a process approach to accomplishing construction management work.
    • Demonstrated Client relationship building experience.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others in potentially adversarial situations.
    • Field and corporate experience.
    • Willingness to work at a Project site location.
