  • Overview

    Sargent & Lundy’s Construction Support Services Division will be supporting a variety of Power Delivery Services Projects and currently has opportunities for part- time, temporary Construction Managers to work on Transmission Line and Substation projects in the Northern California markets.

    Responsibilities

    In this position, you will have the opportunity to perform professional on-site Construction Management of 69kV to 765kV electrical construction projects. Your responsibilities as a Construction Manager will include participating in site safety programs, quality inspections, schedule monitoring and reporting, tracking scope and cost changes, and communicating project status with the Project Manager. The scope of projects varies, and can include transmission line projects, substation additions, and green field substation construction projects ranging in size from small to large with varying complexity. 

     

    Additional responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

    • Monitoring construction activities to maintain system reliability.
    • Ensuring construction installation matches drawings and specifications.
    • Communicating daily with project stakeholders about project status, and issues that impact scope, schedule, quality, and cost.
    • Attending and/or leading project meetings.
    • Monitoring contractor productivity and efficiency to ensure work completed within established budgets and schedules.
    • Accepting material deliveries and tracking material delivery status.
    • Maintaining good communication and relationships with Owners, engineers and contractors.
    • Providing professional customer service and timely response to inquiries.
    • Tracking project changes for scope and cost; creating Requests For Information (RFI’s).
    • Maintaining project punchlist.
    • Maintaining records of past and present projects to facilitate lessons learned.
    • Working with management to maintain contractor relationships for future projects.

    Qualifications

    In order to qualify, it is essential that you have the following skills and experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management from an ABET accredited program, or equivalent heavy industrial/utility construction/power industry work experience.
    • 5 or more years of experience in the Power Industry.Ability to read contract documents and ensure projects are meeting contractual requirements.Ability to work remotely on project sites that require travel and extended hours.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, Federal, State, and utility rules and regulations.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others on project related activities.
    • Project planning and scheduling skills.
