Description

Significant growth in Sargent & Lundy’s (S&L) business over the past few years has driven the need to increase focus and investment in S&L’s Valve Program Support team. This team works closely with our external clients to support their Valve program needs, as well as with our internal teams to make the projects run as seamlessly as possible.

 

S&L is seeking a part time technical and programmatic support consultant for (Air Operated / Motor Operated) valve programs at nuclear generating stations. The role focuses on helping clients maintain robust valve programs, support safe and reliable operation, and integrate valve-related work with maintenance, testing, and plant engineering activities.

  • You will work as part of integrated S&L and client team, contributing to planning, execution, and continuous improvement of valve program activities in alignment with nuclear quality and safety expectations. We are seeking a proven contributor with power plant experience, who can not only ensure the delivery of essential core services but perform with the highest level of alignment with S&L’s core values.   • valve program activities (e.g., safety‑related and important‑to‑safety valves), including documentation, test planning support, and coordination with plant organizations
  • Assist with review of valve program data and technical information to help clients identify issues, trends, and improvement opportunities
  • Help translate program requirements into executable plans (e.g., inputs to work orders, test or maintenance instructions, scheduling considerations) in coordination with client engineering and maintenance
  • Assess AOV diagnostic trace interpretations and reviews
  • Provide input for program assessments, audits, and quality activities related to valve program implementation
  • Participate in meetings, walkdowns, and outage/online support as needed to follow up on valve program actions and clarify technical expectations
  • Share knowledge, good practices, and lessons learned within S&L and with client teams

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, nuclear technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • 10 or more years of experience in Plant / AOV-MOV Equipment Operation, testing and/or maintenance
  • Must have experience with Nuclear Plants and Valve Program Projects
  • Current or prior qualification as an AOV and/or MOV Program owner (utility or A/E support) is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience supporting plant programs or projects in a regulated environment (utility, OEM, A/E, or consulting)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents (procedures, drawings, test results, or similar)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort working with multi‑discipline teams
  • Ability to meet nuclear site access requirements as applicable
  • Ability to prepare, review, and interpret Valve Analytical Calculations
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to travel periodically to either client sites and S&L offices, including during key project or Plant outage periods
  • Experience supporting or interfacing with valve or equipment reliability programs at a nuclear plant
  • Familiarity with work management and outage planning processes
  • Experience working under quality‑controlled processes (e.g., Appendix B / NQA‑1 or equivalent)

Compensation Range

$68.00-$103.00
