Description

This position is expected to be a field assignment based out of southern Texas, United States. The location of the assignment can vary depending on the job and/or client. We do offer per diem for those that qualify.

We are actively seeking a skilled Commissioning Manager to join our dynamic team in a management role, directing the safe, efficient, and innovative commissioning of our client's power facilities.

 

Position Description

The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Commissioning Manager is a site management role that will play an essential role in overseeing and ensuring the peak performance, reliability, and safety of our client's BESS facilities during the commissioning phase. This leadership position demands a blend of managing fieldwork, strategic planning, and team collaboration to oversee commissioning activities across our diverse range of power generation assets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all commissioning and performance testing activities.
  • Review and oversee PODs (Plan of the Day).
  • Ensuring contractors are holding to their sequence and schedule.
  • Supporting client with gathering, reviewing, and submitting proper documentation and test results to ERCOT.
  • Drive troubleshooting and diagnostic efforts to identify and resolve complex issues promptly during the commissioning phase, leveraging technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and safety departments, to plan and execute electrical commissioning activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and optimal plant performance.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce commissioning protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, prioritizing employee well-being and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Monitor equipment performance and efficiency during the commissioning phase, recommending and overseeing the implementation of improvements, adjustments, and modifications as necessary to achieve operational reliability and efficiency.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of commissioning activities, system integrations, equipment condition, and performance metrics for compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement purposes.
  • Provide technical leadership, support, and guidance to commissioning teams, plant operators, maintenance teams, and other stakeholders, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

The following skills, experience, and qualifications are required:

  • ERCOT commissioning experience is required.
  • Must have experience with the ERCOT BESS testing, energization, and grid synchronization process, including the ERCOT Checklist Parts 1 through 3 requirements.
  • Familiarity with ERCOT Nodal Protocols and Nodal Operating Guides, including the Nodal ICCP Communication Handbook
  • BESS experience, including performance testing and commissioning activities.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in installations, operations, maintenance, and commissioning within the power generation industry, with a proven track record of leadership and management.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge and expertise in power plant electrical systems and equipment, including transformers, switchgear, generators, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques for electrical systems, coupled with a strategic mindset and analytical capabilities.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to power plant electrical operations, maintenance, commissioning, and safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, inspire, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations across the United States as required.

Compensation Range

$116,620.00 - $179,890.00
