We have a unique and exciting opportunity to grow our Consulting Group by adding a Power Market and Resource Planning Specialist.  The qualified individual may be located in our Chicago, Illinois headquarters (preferred) or at a mutually agreeable location in the United States.  


In this position, you will have an opportunity to work for an industry leader who provides premier energy consulting to its clients.  This position will provide you with a great deal of client interface and execution of project work.  Additionally, you will be integral in supporting and growing Sargent & Lundy's services in integrated resource planning, power supply planning, power market studies, and technical and financial due diligence.  You will lead the development of new services in related areas. In addition, as required you will support work associated with due diligence reviews including appraisals for financing, mergers and acquisitions, and owner’s engineer work.





This position requires someone who has a Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline, preferred, or in economics, science, or mathematics from an ABET accredited program.


In order to qualify, it is essential that you have the following skills and experience:

  • 8 or more years of experience in the power industry including experience with integrated resource planning, competitive power markets, dispatch modeling, utility planning, and/or transmission and distribution planning.
  • Experience with multiple power generation technologies (i.e., thermal, renewables, nuclear, etc.).
  • Experience with energy storage, energy efficiency, and demand side management, a plus.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Experience writing technical reports and proposals.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others.
  • Project planning and leadership skills.
