Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Nuclear Energy Stakeholder Engagement Senior Consultant to play a key role in supporting S&L’s clients who are developing stakeholder engagement strategies related to nuclear energy initiatives. This role will focus on developing stakeholder engagement strategies which ensure transparent communication, building relationships with diverse stakeholders, and facilitating informed dialogue to enhance public understanding and support for nuclear energy strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Work with clients to support their understanding and need for stakeholder engagement strategies including developing training materials, hosting workshops, seminars, or webinars, working with clients to develop their stakeholder engagement strategies or review and refinement of existing stakeholder engagement strategies. This may include the following topics:

Stakeholder Mapping and Prioritization:

  • Best approaches and strategies for thorough analysis to identify and categorize stakeholders at national, regional, and local levels, assessing their interest and influence in the nuclear energy sector.
  • Maintain a comprehensive stakeholder database to track engagement efforts and stakeholder feedback as outlined in the engagement strategy.

Engagement Strategy Development

  • Collaborate with internal teams to build and refine a stakeholder engagement strategy that aligns with the objectives highlighted in the clients Communication Strategy agenda, focusing on building credibility and trust among stakeholders.
  • Facilitate working sessions with practitioners to outline plans, timelines, and responsibilities for near-term stakeholder engagement.

Communication and Outreach:

  • Best approaches and strategies for developing targeted communication materials and messaging strategies based on the key insights from stakeholder sessions, ensuring clarity and consistency in messaging.
  • Best approaches and strategies for organizing and lead public engagement activities, such as workshops and forums, to present nuclear energy initiatives, address concerns, and gather stakeholder input.

Building Relationships and Facilitating Dialogue:

  • Best approaches and strategies for establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, including governmental agencies, industry partners, and community organizations, ensuring their voices are heard.
  • Best approaches and strategies to facilitate discussions and workshops to engage stakeholders in the development of nuclear infrastructure and policies, as outlined in the workshop agenda.

Issue Identification and Management:

  • Best approaches and strategies to monitor and analyze public sentiment, emerging issues, and concerns related to nuclear energy, providing timely insights to project teams and leadership.
  • Best approaches and strategies to proactively address stakeholder concerns through effective communication and by implementing solutions that foster understanding and support.

Public Opinion Research and Evaluation:

  • Best approaches and strategies to conduct public opinion research to measure the effectiveness of engagement strategies and public perceptions of nuclear energy.
  • Best approaches and strategies to use assessment metrics to inform strategy revisions and improve stakeholder engagement efforts.

Advocacy and Policy Promotion:

  • Best approaches and strategies to stay informed about regulatory developments and public policy trends affecting the nuclear sector, advocating for practices that align with stakeholder interests and enhance public trust.
  • Best approaches and strategies to collaborate with representatives from government ministries and decision-makers to align stakeholder engagement efforts with national energy policies.

Reporting and Feedback Loop:

  • Best approaches and strategies to prepare and present reports on stakeholder engagement activities, outcomes, and recommendations for future actions, ensuring continuous improvement based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Best approaches and strategies to facilitate discussions at the end of each engagement phase to review progress, action items, and next steps in strategy implementation.

Qualifications

We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, communications, public relations, political science, or a related field; Master’s degree or doctorate preferred.
  • 20+ years of experience in stakeholder engagement, public relations, or community relations, ideally within the energy or nuclear sector.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear energy policies, public perceptions, and stakeholder dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in organizing stakeholder workshops and public engagement events, demonstrating a commitment to inclusive dialogue.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with digital communication tools and social media platforms for outreach and engagement.

Preferred Experience:

  • Nuclear power plant operations, engineering, or design background
  • Experience with NRC, INPO, or DOE regulations
  • Prior involvement in stakeholder engagement strategy development and facilitating workshops on this subject
