Description

As a Plant Services Engineering Consultant 1 in the Nuclear Power Group, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and oversee project(s) consisting of engineers, IT designer, controls and scheduling professionals involved in the IT configuration, software update, design, and analysis of new and existing nuclear power plant modifications. The position will involve coordinating with multiple internal and external departments to coordinate the life cycle of project execution. This position will also provide the opportunity to either support and//or lead efforts in our growing a nuclear power team. You will be responsible to: 

  • Work on diverse projects for various clients.
  • Support and overview the design and project IT aspects of multidisciplinary nuclear power team.
  • Guide personnel (e.g., designers, IT candidates, engineers, etc.) in engineering design efforts, including providing guidance with the coordination of various phases for all aspects of engineering work.
  • Oversee staff development, work delegation, and engagement. Mentor and coach team members.
  • Coordinate and participate in external relationships with either consultants and contractors, and/or joint venture relationships.
  • Execute projects by coordinating resources across disciplines, guiding engineers and designers through all phases of engineering design, and ensuring accountability within the project team.
  • Monitor and manage project performance, including safety, schedule, budget, reporting, and client relations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and control project risk.
  • Manage scope changes.
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and Sargent & Lundy formats.
  • Prepare, review, and provide guidance for evaluations, assessments, develop specifications, and collaborate with designers for drawing development.
  • Analyze issues and provide solutions to improve results.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely design completion.
  • Ability to adhere and support Corporate policies, procedures and comply with required standards.
  • Occasionally travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.

Essential skills and experience:

  • ABET- accredited Community College program.
  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • 10 or more years of experience in the design and analysis of nuclear, industrial, or DOE facilities.
  • 5 or more years of experience in project management/project coordination.
  • Experience in managing medium to large critical projects.
  • Extensive knowledge and applied experience in all aspects of project CAD, 3D, engineering design.
  • Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
  • Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to develop and motivate staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in providing guidance, mentoring, and training to staff engineers.
  • Accredited training in Intergraph, SMART 3D, Software applications.

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • 3 D Visualization.
  • Training Development.
  • Construction and piping design experience.
  • Commissioning experience.
  • Experience in coordinating the development of a new products for engineering team(s).
  • Project schedule and budget development and management.

Compensation Range

$123,800.00 - $192,660.00
