Description

Join a team of experienced and diverse geotechnical engineers, where you will provide high quality consulting services as part of multi-disciplined project teams for challenging domestic and international, power, and industrial projects. The work will primarily consist of the practice of engineering geology for site evaluations in support of new nuclear power electric generation plants, including but not limited to the evaluation of geologic profile, seismicity, faulting, site stability, slope stability, groundwater, geophysical studies, site explorations and construction conditions.

Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Provide evaluations and work closely with all engineering design disciplines and business groups within S&L
  • Prepare and review detailed evaluations of
    • Geologic parameters and hazards for licensing and design of facilities under both static and dynamic conditions
    • Slope stability
    • Groundwater conditions
  • Technical review of geologic reports prepared by others
  • Work with designers to accurately portray technical information on drawings
  • Prepare and review specifications for subsurface investigations, deep foundations, ground improvement, earth retaining systems, monitoring wells, water production wells, and general earthwork
  • Prepare bid tabulations and technical recommendations for bids received in response to specifications
  • Conduct on-site quality surveillance of subsurface exploration programs and provide periodic onsite representation during construction activities
  • Assist in establishing laboratory testing programs
  • Participate in dam and dike examinations
  • Regular domestic and occasional international travel

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelors and Masters in geology
  • 15+ years of diverse and progressive engineering geology experience
  • 3+ years of engineering geology in support of licensing and design of nuclear power facilities
  • Licensed Professional Geologist
  • Experience with the collection of field data using soil borings, rock coring, CPTs, geophysical methods, etc.
  • Experience reviewing and summarizing detailed geologic papers and studies
  • US Citizenship required to support nuclear power projects
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain professional presence in settings ranging from the client offices to construction “trenches”
  • Working knowledge of ASTM standards
  • Excellent English verbal communication skills and effective writing skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, both domestic and international
  • Proficiency in a second language is desired

Compensation Range

$109,410.00 - $168,770.00
