We are looking for a skilled Senior Data Scientist Analyst to support our growing data-driven insight initiatives and help us make informed decisions across the enterprise.

 

As a Senior Data Scientist Analyst at Sargent & Lundy, you will lead data analytics projects to transform raw data into valuable insights that guide strategic decisions. You will work closely with senior business leaders, various business units, and stakeholders to understand data needs, perform advanced analysis, and provide strategic insights that support project success. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in data visualization tools, have strong skills in SQL, data analysis, and reporting, and be capable of leading analytics initiatives and mentoring junior analysts. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about leveraging data to solve complex business problems.

 

The responsibilites for a Senior Data Scientist Analyst include but are not limited to:

Data Analytics & Insights

  • Lead analytics projects to transform raw data into strategic insights that influence key business decisions.
  • Design and implement predictive models and perform statistical analysis to anticipate key business trends and outcomes.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and correlations within data sets to drive actionable recommendations and support strategic decision-making.
  • Proactively identify new data-driven opportunities and spearhead initiatives to capitalize on them.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define success metrics and key performance indicators for ongoing projects.
  • Analyze the impact of business initiatives using a combination of statistical techniques and domain knowledge to deliver comprehensive insights.

Data Visualization & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain advanced data reports and dashboards using visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  • Work closely with senior business leaders and stakeholders to identify data needs and provide insights that align with business objectives.
  • Use SQL to query databases and extract data for advanced analysis and reporting.
  • Create automated reporting systems that enhance efficiency and ensure consistency in delivering data insights.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis as needed to support urgent business needs and provide timely insights for decision-making.

Data Infrastructure & Quality

  • Architect and manage data workflows and analytics infrastructure to ensure data accessibility, reliability, and quality.
  • Lead data quality initiatives, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and integrity across all projects.
  • Work with data engineering teams to enhance data collection procedures and ensure strong data quality controls.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries and documentation to facilitate data usage across the organization.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Guide and mentor junior data analysts, promoting a culture of growth, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that supports continuous learning and development across the analytics team.
  • Lead peer reviews for data analysis projects, providing constructive feedback to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Growth

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address data needs across the organization.
  • Lead initiatives to create data-driven tools and resources that improve productivity and foster better decision-making across teams.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies and practices to ensure compliance and data security.
  • Lead workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote data literacy and empower teams to leverage data effectively in their roles.

 

This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule with the expectation of 3 days per week in our downtown Chicago office, and 2 days remote from home.

Qualifications

This position requires:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, with at least 2 years in a senior role involving leadership or project ownership.
  • Proven track record in managing data analytics projects and delivering impactful insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing data strategies and working closely with business and engineering teams to implement data-driven solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R for complex data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, such as Amazon (e.g., AWS QuickSight, Redshift), Microsoft (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Power BI), or Google (e.g., BigQuery, Google Data Studio), for data analysis and orchestration.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to design predictive models, perform exploratory data analysis, and transform data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for leveraging data to drive business outcomes.
